Eternal Kiss

If I must
sleep forever
may I only dream
of your lips.

If I may
only remember
a single, dying glance
may it be only of your face.

If I must
die to keep you, I will.
I only wish
to die upon a kiss.
This is an old poem I stumbled across in a notebook I had long-ago forgotten. I think I got the idea around late 2007 or early 2008. I don't believe I actually picked it back up and finished it until the spring or summer of 2008.

The poem was written because I loved Othello when I read it in AP English. The line that inspired me went like this: "I kiss'd thee ere I kill'd thee: no way but this; Killing myself, to die upon a kiss."
To me, it's such a moving quote. The context makes it even better. If you haven't read Othello, I highly recommend it.

So yeah, old poem. I think it's a good one, though. I hope you enjoyed it ^-^
